How is the Consumer Code for Home Builders governed?
A management board is responsible for the operation of the Consumer Code and an advisory forum "an industry-wide body that represents, consults and advises on Code content, its practical application and operation, through which changes and improvements will be channelled." chaired by Mike Freshney
The Code's management board is:
Noel Hunter OBE – Chairman.
Noel Hunter is also a member of the Council of The Property Ombudsman, chair of the Board of the Trading Standards Institute, and chairman of the Steering Board of the National Measurement Office.
Ian Davis - NHBC Operations Director
Ian Davis is Operations Director of NHBC. A Chartered Civil Engineer and member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Previously the NHBC’s Director of Standards and Research, he re joined the NHBC in 2006 after nine years as the Director General of the Federation of Master Builders.
Gary Devaney - Premier Guarantee and LABC New Home Warranty
Gary Devaney is Group Chairman and Managing Director MD Insurance Services Ltd. which is the scheme administer for both the Premier Guarantee and LABC Warranty.
Jonathan Fair Chief Executive - Homes for Scotland
Member of the Code’s Advisory Forum, Jonathan Fair has over 19 years' experience in the construction and property development sectors working for private practice and industry.
Mike Freshney - Chairman of the Advisory Forum
Mike Freshney is Chairman of NHBC Standards Review Group, Non-Executive Director of CALA Homes, and Westerman Homes Ltd, Non-Executive Chairman of NHBC Building Control Services Ltd, Chairman of Robust Details Ltd, and Board Member of the Zero Carbon Hub Ltd. Mr Freshney is also a Non-Executive Director of the Homebuilders Federation (HBF), and represents UK Homebuilding interests in the European Housing Confederation (UEPC).
