Helping UK new home buyers
brand-newhomes.co.uk
Today there are many types of new homes available. Some have evolved as lifestyles and demographics have changed; others introduced to maximise land use density and the house builder’s profit margins.
The design of the various new homes being built will appeal to different people. Some of the designs and layouts may be totally unsuitable for a family or the elderly but may appeal to the young first time buyer. For others size and other practicalities may be of greater importance.
There are many reasons why people buy a particular style or type of new home. A study was carried out by Chris Leishman, Peter Aspinall, Moira Munro and Fran J. Warren into the Preferences, quality and choice in UK new-build housing. They looked at new home buyer’s needs and preferences and what the house builders actually provided. In the study, there is an examination of the relative importance of factors to new home buyers during the process of choosing a new home, such as the actual home itself, location, neighbourhood and price.
There are basically seven categories of new homes available. Within each category there are many variations on design and layout of rooms. In addition, houses can be terraced, semi-detached and detached.
Click on the links below of each new home category to discover the advantages and disadvantages of each type and discover which is the most suitable, which offers the best value for money and which is easiest to sell when the time comes.
